SANTA

I have been wanting to take Nate to get his picture with santa for a couple weeks now and today I finally had the time. I was a little nervous because he is teething right now and when he teeths he tends to be a little clingy. He did great though! My Mom, Amanda, Alena and Ty all came with me so while I sat Nate on Santas lap I had everybody call his name to get his attention. The picture taker was taking forever! He had to sit on Santas lap for like 5 minutes before she actually took the picture! This year the mall let us take pictures with our personal cameras too so we took a couple. He is smiling in the a picture the mall took so that was exciting! I wish I had a scanner so I could show you that one, but I have some of him smiling to so I will just post those. I dont think Nate even realized he was sitting on Santas lap because he was distracted by us and all the decorations around him. He kept looking at the toy bag and wanting the big white bear poking out. When he looked up at Santa and realized who was holding him he looked back at me with a look on his face that was priceless! I wish we would have got it on camera! He started to cry a little and then I went and got him.

I have to say I was a little disappointed with that Santa in the mall. He looked the part, but definitely didnt act it! He was not personable at all! I didnt care as much with nate because he is to young to understand, but he didnt even talk to the toddlers or yound children! Normally the Santas are really friendly because that is how Santa is, but this guy didnt even say Merry Christmas!! The picture taker was really nice, but the mall definitely needs to find a new santa!!

My mom's friend, Amy Hummel, took these cute pictures of nate a couple days ago. I edited a couple of them, but for the most part they are all still the orginal photo.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!!

St. George had its first snow of the season today! It didnt stick to the ground at our house, but we were able to find a field filled with snow (which I was really excited about because I really wanted to see how Nate would react to being in the snow). It was Nates first time seeing it but he wasnt that big of a fan. He just had a confused look on his face the whole time we were taking pictures. We sat him on the ground and his jacket was so puffy that he had a hard time sitting. He kept falling back and he was not happy about it! We only put him on the ground for a second because he didnt have snow pants on and we didnt want him getting to cold (We also didnt want to stay outside to long because none of us were dressed for playing in the snow!) It was fun having it snow today, but I am so glad I dont live somewhere where it snows all the time!! I dont think I could handle it!

Tonight Nate took 3 steps! He again was playing with a ball on the foot rest and Grandpa Rick came around the room and he wanted to go to him. With the ball in his hands he let go of the foot rest and started walking out to him! He took 3 great perfectly balanced steps and then stopped and looked at me and then Rick and realized what he was doing and got scared and then dropped to the floor. He could have kept going if he didnt get scared! It is so fun and exciting to see him try and do new things! I also was able to capture a couple of pictures of him standing all by himself! He stood there for about 10-15 seconds! I was so proud :) He was watching TV and chewing on a toy so thats why he isnt looking at me in the pictures. If he has something to focus on he can stand somewhere for quite awhile, but when he realizes what he is doing then he falls down.

Here is a picture I took of him on sunday and I think his smile is so cute! It shows his 2 teeth perfectly!

Nate is 8 months and I'm 23...

Nathan turned 8 months on monday and I cant believe it! He is getting to be so grown up! He is so full of life and wants to explore and get into everything! He took his first 2 steps on wednesday and it was really exciting. He was standing up and playing with a ball that was on the foot rest and it rolled off and he went after it. I would love for him to start walking because he is already into everything so he might as well walk to things instead of crawl (then his legs, hands, and the tops of his feet wouldnt be so dirty all the time!) So he is now in training :) He also got his second tooth at the beginning of last week. His 2 teeth are so cute! I love them!

Yesterday was my birthday and I had such a fun day! I got everything I wanted and then some! Skyler got me a new camera, I actually got it the day after thanksgiving, but he was nice enough to let me use it before my birthday :) My mom took me out to lunch on tuesday because she was getting work done on her mouth yesterday so she couldnt really talk. We went to Red Lobster and had my favorite coconut shrimp! She is also getting me a shirt I want and I am so excited to get it! Yesterday my mother-in-law and sister-in-law took me out to lunch to Olive Garden which was really yummy! They gave me a really cute tank top and sweater! Both skyler's grandparents (The Webbs and Ences) got me a card and money which I am so grateful for! You guys are so sweet!! Last night I went to Red Robin for my birthday dinner (it just opened on wednesday). All my closest friends were there so it was so much fun!! My girlfriends Amy, Jackie, and Kaitlin got me a shirt, necklace, bracelet, purse, and black heels!! They are all so cute and I cant wait to wear them!! (you will see them in the pictures I took last night) I want to thank everyone that gave me a card, present, called, text, or left me a message on facebook saying happy birthday! You guys are all so awesome and made my birthday one of the best I have ever had!!

Update

So it has been a crazy last couple of weeks! We are in the process of buying a lot right now and I am so excited! We put in an offer and they counteroffered (sp?) and then we excepted so we have to get the loan and everything by Nov. 30th! We had our house plans drawn up so they can get appraised. The house is so perfect looking! Its everything I wanted in a first time home! I want to thank everyone for their advice in helping me put it all together! I love getting advice especially on something like this because its my first time and I have no idea! So please keep all the advice about building a home and what you like about your home coming!! To save money we decided it would be best to move in with my in-laws so we dont have to pay rent anymore and that money will go straight to savings! I really appreciate my in-laws for letting us move in and for everything they help us with! I just hope we dont wear out our welcome! I have been packing up and cleaning our apartment and we are finally all done and moved over. Now its time to unpack everything...

Nate is also getting his first tooth! I felt it for the first time on monday. I was feeding him part of my sandwhich and as i was putting it in his mouth I noticed something sharp. I felt again and it was definitly a tooth! It is barely sticking up, but I am so glad it has finally cut through and on its way!

2 exciting games!

This past weekend I went and listened to 2 exciting and nerve racking games! It started with the Pine View High football game on friday night. They played Highland and beat them 10-7. Mike Stephenson kicked the winning field goal with less then 2 minutes left in the game and then Pine Views defense was able to hold Highland's offense so they did not have a chance to score. I am so proud of Ty and Justin! They both played their hearts out and made some great plays! Pine View will play in the semi-finals on friday at 10:30 against Cottonwood. It will be a great game and I cant wait to go watch it! Good Luck Pine View!

The second game was Skyler's game. It was Dixies last game of the season and they had to take a 20 hour bus trip to Arcata, California where they played Humboldt and had a big win! Dixie was up all game until the last couple of minutes and then Humboldt scored putting them ahead by 3. Dixie's offense had 1:25 seconds to score either a field goal to tye or a touchdown to win. They fought hard and scored a touchdown with only 1.3 seconds left in the game! It was an exciting game to listen to! I wish I could have been there in person to see it! Congrats to Skyler! I am so proud of you! You had a great season! I love you!

Dennis the Menace!

I was cleaning my bedroom today and Nate was in there crawling around the room. I was dusting of my nightstand and when I turned around Nate was no where to be found in my room. I heard him playing and the bathroom (which is never good!) so I head to the bathroom and I find that he has some how got the toilet paper pulled down to him and he is ripping it apart into a hundred pieces (this happened all in the minute I was dusting!) I was curious to see if he could reach the toilet paper holder or if we had left a couple sheets hanging low and he could reach those and pull it. So i rolled the toilet paper back up onto the roll and watched him to see if he could reach it. To my suprise he could! I guess we are just going to have to make sure the bathroom door is always closed otherwise I will have scraps of toilet paper everywhere all the time! Here are pictures I took...the first ones are of how I found him and then the next couple are after I rolled the toilet paper back up...

I bought him a new toy today at the store hoping he would like playing with a toy instead of getting everything! So far so good, but we will see how tomorrow goes! Wish me luck :)

More Halloween Pictures...

Halloween night my brother and brother-in-law had a football game that we went too. It was a lot of fun! They won 48-7! Nate wore his costume to the game and so did his cousin Josie, who was minnie mouse. She looked so cute! It was fun to see the little kids in their costumes! Here are the rest of the pictures I took on halloween!

Copy Cat

I am copying this post off my sisters blog because I think these halloween/fall crafts look easy and fun to do! I hope you enjoy!

This would also be something that would be really fun to do with your kids because 1)it's quick and easy 2)it doesn't require anything dangerous/messy like glue, markers, paints, etc. and 3)it's really fun!

Pumpkin Roll

What you need:
-Roll of Toilet Paper
-Piece of "pumpkiny" fabric about 22x18 (they had lots of different fun orange fabrics to choose from: stripes, checkerboard, solid, etc.)
-2 pieces of green fabric about 3x3(depends on what size leaves you want)
-a brown paper lunch sac
-Raffia

How to:
1.Place your roll of TP in the center of your fabric. Gather fabric together and stuff into the center of the TP roll.
2.Crinkle your paper bag (to give it less of a paper bag look), roll it into a "log" shape and stick in center of TP roll for the stem(this also helps to keep fabric in place).
3.Cut out 1-2 leaves and tuck next to your stem
4.Crinkle a piece or two of raffia and stuff next to or tie around your stem to create a "vines" look. It doesn't really matter how you do this, everyone had a different way of doing this part to make it work.

Mini Caramel Apples

This next idea I got online from Family Fun Magazine and I think they are SO cute! (Obviously I'm easily impressed by the simplest of things) These would be perfect to have at a party, take to a party, or to give away as treats to friends/family for Halloween (or really anytime during the fall). You could also attach a tiny bow and tag to each stick and give away or use as a favor or placecard at your party.

Ingredients:
4-inch lollipop sticks
Melon baller
Granny Smith apples (one apple makes about 8 mini apples)
Butterscotch or peanut butter chips
Chopped nuts, nonpareils, sprinkles, shredded coconut (optional)
Small paper candy cups

1. First, cut the lollipop sticks in half at an angle (the pointy end will go into the apple pieces easier). With the melon baller, scoop little balls out of the apple. Each ball should have a section of apple peel. Push half of a lollipop stick into the peel of each ball. Pat the apple pieces dry.

2.Melt the chips according to the package directions. Dip and swirl the mini apples in the melted chips, then roll the apples in nuts, sprinkles, nonpareils, or coconut, if desired. Place the mini apples in paper candy cups to set.

A couple tips:
• Use thin wood skewers (about 3" lengths) instead of lollipop sticks.
• Make sure to pat dry apple pieces before dipping. This is important to help the coating stick. Apples can be dipped in lemon juice before drying and dipping to prevent browning.
• Use peanut butter, butterscotch, vanilla, milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips. Thin with shortening if necessary. Caramel also works well.

Anyway, so that's my gift to you all this Fall season. I know most of you that read this blog are super crafty so please share any fun ideas that you have done or good websites that you know of for more fun-and easy-craft projects I can do this fall season. Thanks!

6 month appointment

Nate had his 6 month doctors appointment today and luckly everything went great! He was a little cranky toward the end because it was nap time, so that didnt help when it came time to get his shots! I hate when he has to get shots! He only cries for a minute, but it is the worst feeling to know something just hurt your child and you actually let it happen on purpose! I know they are important to get and thats why i have him get them, but I sure wish they didnt hurt! Nate was 16lbs 1oz and 26 inches long. He was in the 25th percentile for weight and 50th for height. All in all he is one healthy little guy which I am so thankful for!

This past weekend we got to go to my brother Ty and my brother-in-law Justin's football game! It was fun to go watch them play! They both did a great job and I am so proud of both of them! Nate got to see his cousin Josie and we got a cute picture of them!

Skyler had a football game here in town against Humboldt State on Saturday! They did a great job and came out with a win of 16-6! Good job Dixie...you all played so well!!

He fell asleep in Bryce's arms

Josie kept putting her arm around Nate...it was so cute!

Ok so he is not really helping...he just likes to suck on it!

Nate is already 6 months!!

Nate turned 6 months today and I cant believe it! It seems like just yesterday I was in the hospital delivering him! He has grown up so fast! He has accomplished so much in the last 6 months and I cant even imagine what he will being doing in the next 6 months. I love him so much! He has brought such joy to my life and I cant imagine life without him! He has developed such a fun and cute personality! You will rearly ever see him without a smile! Whenever I am feeling down or not having a good day all it takes is his cute smile to cheer me up! Everyone who meets him loves him because he is so happy all the time! He has the cutest laugh and everyone time he starts laughing really hard he gets the hiccups and he will have them for like 20 minutes! Today he crawled up to an outlet and started to pull on a plug and I told him no and he stopped and looked at me and smiled. Then he went back to pull on it and I said nate no and he looked back at me and reached for it and started to smile like he knew he was doing something i didnt want him too, but he thought it was funny. I said nate no do not pull it and he just started laughing! It was the funniest thing! I couldnt help, but laugh. I dont think he is ever going to take me seriously because he ends up just making me laugh! He is going to be just like his dad and be able to sweet talk his way out of everything! He is also really ticklish! For such a little guy he has so much energy! He is on the go all the time and is into everything! It is fun to watch him explore and try new things! He is getting so fast at crawling and is pulling himself up on anything he can. His new favorite is pulling himself up on the coffee table which he can barely see over. It is so cute! He loves it when I read his baby stories to him. It will be weird if he still likes to read when he gets older because both skyler and I are not big readers! He likes baby food, but every time I try to feed it to him he makes a really funny face after the first bite he takes. After that first bite he is fine and wants to eat the full jar most of the time. The first time I gave him apple juice he hated it and wouldnt drink it, but i gave him mixed fruit jucie and apple banana juice and he liked both of those a lot, but he also makes a funny face after the first sip...its so funny! He also loves lemons and doesnt mind that they are sour. So anytime we go to a restaurant we give him a lemon to suck on while we eat. He wants nothing to do with his baby toys most of the time...he would much rather play with my keys, phone, cups, plastic containers, boxes, or water bottles. He will be entertained with any of those things for a while. He also loves little kids and babies! He could watch them all day if he had the chance! The las couple times skyler has come home from work nate will follow him everywhere! He loves his dad and gets so excited when he gets home! He is starting to teeth now and I am just hoping they cut through soon because I can tell they are really bugging him! He has been up all night the last couple nights and his nose is running all the time! This has turned out to be a really long post! So I will just post some pictures of my big boy at 6 months!

It was all gone and he was trying to figure out a way for more juice to come
