Helpful Tricks to Try

A couple of days ago Nathan had a pretty bad stomach ache and would not stop crying! I felt so bad considering it was because i ate something he didnt like, unfortunatley i am not sure what is was :( My mother-in-law told me she heard if you lay your baby on their stomach on a dryer and turn it on that will help calm them down and soothe their stomach. So i decided i would give it a try and i couldnt believe how well it worked! He was crying and the second i set him on the dryer and turned it on he stopped crying...it was amazing! And not even a minute later he was sound asleep! Take a look...

Skyler and I have also found a couple of other helpful tricks...

Turning on the shower and closing the bathroom door. We hold him or lay him on a towel on the floor. This also puts him right asleep and when he is congested it helps clear up his nose...

Putting him in his carseat and taking him for a stroller or car ride...

And the new latest and greatest thing he loves is the swing...

Good Luck Amanda!

My sister Amanda is going to Washington DC this summer to do summer sales. She leaves today and wont be back for 4 months. Last night we had a big family dinner for her, which was so good! It was just like thanksgiving dinner. We had ham, turkey, potato casserole, jello, spinach salad, broccoli, rolls, and apple pie or choclate pecan pie for dessert. It was so yummy! I took a couple pictures of Amanda and Nate since she wont see him for 4 months and the next time she does he will be quite a bit bigger. We will miss you Amanda! Have fun and good luck!!

Picture Session

Last friday my mom had one of her friends take some newborn pictures of nathan. To my surprise he actually really liked getting his picture taken because he liked the bright light of the flash. I had just fed him before we started and of course he fell asleep, like he always does when i feed him, but as soon as she started taking pictures he woke up. He was really sleepy, but refused to go to sleep, so his eyes ended up only being half way open in most of the picutres. We just had nates pictures taken, but in a couple weeks i want to go get our family pictures taken and some more of just him and maybe he will be old enough to smile in a few :)

Bath Time

A couple of days after Nathan was born i gave him a sponge bath, which turned out to be a very dramatic experience! It was the first time i got to hear him scream at the top of his lungs! I felt so bad and i wanted to stop and tell him it would be ok and i would never bathe him again! I realized that would not be such a good idea considering his face already had the crusty baby look from all the spit up and sleepys in his eyes. I continued to bathe him even though he was screaming bloody murder and i think that made him more upset because the next thing i knew there was i fountain of pee headed my way! they say newborns cant smile until they are about a month old, but i swear he let out a little grin showing me the door swings both ways and if i was going to mess with him he would mess with me right back. After we got done with his bath i bundled him up in his cute bath towel and layed him on the couch for a minute while i went and cleaned up the mess in the bathroom. I walked back out to check on him because he was not crying or making any noises and this is how i found him...

sound asleep...he looked so cute and i couldnt help but take like 50 pictures of him just laying there asleep. i wont post all the pictures i took because i really went all out and took like 50 or more, but here are a few.

We have a blog!

So I finally decided to join the new trend of blogging. I am not sure how well i will be about posting, but i am going to try real hard to keep yall up to date on everything going on with the Ence clan. We just welcomed a new member to the family exactly one week ago. Its crazy to think it has already been a week! He is the cutest thing ever and i just love him death!! I find myself just watching him all day thinking how i got so lucky to have been blessed with such a sweet and beautiful baby! I love staying home with him and seeing how much he is changing each and every day. When he looks up at me with his big beautiful eyes i cant help but feel an overwhelming amount of love for him! The lord has truly blessed me with an amazing husband who has been such a strength to me over the last 14 months that we have been married! We are now just trying to adjust to the parent life. Well its time for me to feed Nathan, so i better get going!
